Preview: The Refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon

For the past 30-something years, the GMC Yukon—and its elongated twin, the Yukon XL—has been a staple on American streets from Destin to the West Coast, and everywhere in between. Few other vehicles can match its unparalleled luxury, cavernous interior space, and trucklike performance specs.

There are some big changes coming for the Yukon. Earlier this year, GMC announced that it would be getting a mid-generational refresh for the 2025 model. Here’s everything we know so far, and what we expect is still to come.

2025 GMC Yukon Changes: What We Know

Thus far, concrete details are a bit scarce. GMC is still playing things pretty close to the vest, but a full announcement is forthcoming closer to the end of 2024.

One detail that has been confirmed is a host of aesthetic updates. The front fascia and grille have been significantly tweaked to give the new Yukon a distinct character compared to previous models, and the headlight dimensions have been altered to flow better with the body molding.

We also know for a fact that the almighty Yukon AT4 will be returning. This off-road package, which was first introduced in 2019, features burly A/T tires, upgraded suspension, underbody skid plates, and a host of other standard features. The AT4 also has additional available goodies including four-corner adaptive air ride suspension.

The incomparable Yukon Denali is celebrating its 25^th anniversary this year as well. The Denali and Denali Ultimate represent the absolute pinnacle of power and high-end comfort amenities.

2025 GMC Yukon Changes: What We Expect

It’s hard to pin down anything aside from what’s been officially confirmed, but we do have some educated guesses. Because it’s a mid-cycle refresh and not a ground-up redesign, auto industry observers agree that many specs and features will carry over from 2024.

The 2024 Yukon is available in 5 trim levels:

• SLE
• SLT
• AT4
• Denali
• Denali Ultimate

The Denali and AT4 have already been solidly confirmed, and we expect the full trim selection, as well as the 2025 Yukon’s prices, to remain largely similar.

The Yukon and Yukon XL have always been prized for their second-to-none ability to provide an immense amount of passenger and cargo space, with seating for seven to eight adults. Official dimensions for the 2025 GMC Yukon haven’t been released, but they’ll likely be comparable if not nearly identical to the previous year.

As of this writing, there’s no way to completely authorize other details. However, some savvy car experts have noted that the new 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban have already been revealed. The Tahoe/Suburban share the same parent company, and they have a lot of the same underpinnings and features as the Yukon/Yukon XL, so they may provide some more clues as to what’s in store for the Yukon in 2025.

For 2024, the GMC Yukon had three available engines:

• 3-liter V8 (355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque)
• 2-liter V8 (420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque)
• 0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel (277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque)

It was recently confirmed that 2025 Chevy models will receive a second-gen Duramax engine with 10% more horsepower and significantly more torque, and it seems quite possible that the Yukon will get the same treatment.

There are also rumors that the 2025 Yukon will be receiving a massively updated infotainment system, with certain insiders even claiming to have seen it in action. The Tahoe and Suburban are both getting a gigantic 17.7-inch infotainment screen as standard equipment in all models, and considering GMC’s penchant for including luxe appointments in their vehicles, our hopes are high.
